Service Type and Scale Type: What is Individual vs Family?
When creating Direct & Referral Services or Assessment Scales, you'll notice there is a "Type" drop-down list that provides two choices: Individual and Family.
Individual
Services that are assigned the Individual Type are services that benefit only the individual client. When an Individual service is assigned to a client in eLogic Genesis, the service will appear only on that client's record. Resume writing, for example, is an individual service that when provided, is intended to benefit only the individual to whom it was assigned.
Scales that are assigned the Individual Type are scales that are used to asses only the individual client. When a client is assessed with a scale that has the Individual Type selected, the scale outcome statement will be applied to only that particular client. If a client were assessed with the "Education-Adults/Youth" scale and the client selected "Some college", the outcome statement pertains only to them as an individual and is added to the client's Assessment History.
Family
If a service regularly benefits not only the client, but all household members, the service should be indicated as a Family Type service. In eLogic Genesis, when a Family Type service is assigned in a client record, the service will automatically populate in all the client's connected family records, as well. The provision of an Energy Assistance service would benefit all family members and the service will be automatically added to every family members' eLogic Genesis record.
If a scale is used to asses an entire household, it should be indicated with the Family Type scale. When an individual client is assessed with a scale that has been designated with the Family Type, their outcome selection will automatically be applied to all household members. If on the "Health Insurance-Adults" assessment scale the client selects the outcome "Some adults have health insurance", the statement selection will be copied to all connected family members' Assessment History as an AutoAssessment.

Why can't I edit something that is labeled as Inherited?
Items that are indicated as Inherited, whether they are Intake Fields or Services, Assessments or Income Types, means that the item is owned and maintained by your parent organization.

Why shouldn't I change Intake Field options or Custom Field choices?
Think of Intake Field options and Custom Field choices like name tags. Once an option or choice is given a name, data will be collected based on the name given to each field. Renaming an option or choice does not reallocate the data that has already been collected, rather, the data stays the same, the name attached to the data changes, and the integrity of the data has been compromised.
Suppose at a party, one partygoer named Bob removes his name tag and replaces it with Joe's name tag. Upon application of the new name tag, Bob does not become Joe. Bob is still Bob, but is identifying himself using an incorrect name.
If you wish to stop collecting data on a certain data point and begin capturing data on a different data point, we recommend deleting the former and creating a new Intake Field option or Custom Field choice to begin capturing the new data.
The only acceptable circumstance where an Intake Field option or Custom Field choice is renamed is when the meaning between the previous and new name remains the same. Changing a choice or option from "does not have a job" to "Unemployed" is an acceptable change, whereas "does not have a job" to "Employed part-time" is not.
